Varanasi-
Varanasi, the Holy City and Banaras as called
earlier, is one of the oldest living cities in the
world. It si situated on the bank of Holy river
Ganga. Ganga usually flows from the two rivers that
flank the city, the Varana to the north and the Asi
to the south. It traces a great arc through
Varanasi, perfectly aligning the river bank with the
rising sun. The unique feelings of the city make it
a distinct place that will captivate you.

trade as it’s silk fabric is popular all over the

How to approach there
Air : Perfectly connected to Delhi, Khauraho, Lucknow, Mumbai by air.
Rail : Ahmedabad, Cochin, Delhi, Gwalior, Kolkata, Madras, Mumbai, Tirupati,
Puri are well linked by railways to Varanasi.
Road : Varanasi, on NH 2 from Kolkata to Delhi, and NH 29 to Gorakhpur is
perfectly connected to the rest of the country by good motorable roads.

Sarnath
Sarnath, purely holy identity in Varanasi, is the temple of Lord Shiva. It is
also linked with Buddhism and Jainism. Various Buddhist architecture were
focused at Sarnath between the 3rd century BC and the 11th century AD. The
Ashoka Pillar of Sarnath is the national emblem of India and any other person
out of India can not approached their. It was ruined by the Mughal Emperor,
Aurangzeb which was later restored by Rani Ahilyabai of Indore in the 18th
century. It is far apart as 10 km from the sacred city of Varanasi, where Buddha
decided to convey his first oration. The ancient dictum Mantra, 'Buddham
Sharanam Gachhami', owes its foundation to Sarnath. And one can find a vast
expanse of prehistoric ruins at Sarnath.
The Ghats
In Varansi, there are various ghats as counted near about hundred ghats are
there and every ghat preserves its own special glory in the pilgrimage
characteristics of the city. The Dasashvamedh Ghat provides you an attractive
view of the river facade. This is the ghat of the 10 (Das) horses (shiva)
sacrificed (medh). Other fabulous ghats are the Asi, Barnasangam, Panchganga and
Manikarnika, Ghats.
Bharat Mata Temple
Bharat Mata Temple, lies 3 kms west of Godaulia, was founded by Mahatma
Gandhi. The enchanted structure of the temple gives a attractive glimpse to the
eyes and besides of gods and goddesses, a complete relief map in marble of the
whole of Indian subcontinent and Tibetan plateau is found here. It provides a
complete scale for both vertically and horizontally with mountains, rivers and
the holy tirthas all feasibly visible.
Alamgir Mosque
Alamgir Mosque is a combined structure of the Hindu and Mughal styles of the
architecture It is well known as Beni Madhav Ka Darera, built by Aurangzeb on
the site of the Vishnu Temple, see across the Panchganga Ghat.
Tulsi Manas
Tulsi Manas temple, dedicated to Lord Rama, is located about 150 m south of
Durga Temple built in 1964. It is situated at the place where Tulsidas, the
great medieval oracle is supposed to have lived and written the great epic "Shri
Ramcharitmanas". Banaras Hindu University. Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya was the
founder of the university. It is judged to be the largest residential university
in Asia.
Durga Temple
Durga Temple came into existence in 18th century. Durga Temple is also known
as the Monkey Temple, due to many violent monkeys residing here, located 2 kms
south of the old city. The temple was built in a common north Indian style with
an ornated shikhara.
