Kerala can be divided into mountains, valleys, midland plains and coastal belts. It was formed in the year 1956 and it has 14 districts and Thiruvananthapuram is the capital of Kerala.

Places to visit

Alappuzha
Alappuzha is one of the fabulous backwater sites in Kerala. Alleppey, a travelers' paradise, is the best gateway to explore the unspoiled countryside. It was founded by Raja Keshawadasan, Divan of Travanacore in 1762. It is surrounded by the Arabian sea on the west, a vast network of lakes, lagoons and fresh water rivers. It is also know as the home to diverse the animal and bird life. It has a great importance now a days due to a popular backwater tourist center and it is also famous for its boat racing, houseboats, beaches, marine products and coir industry.

Cochin
Cochin, also know as Ernakulam, is located on the cost on Arabian sea. Kochi, the commercial capital and the most cosmopolitan city of Kelala, is also known as the queen of the Arabian Sea. The reminisces of the Chinese, Arabian, Portuguese, Dutch travelers and traders are omnipresent in Cochin. The various village cruises to the coconut plantations and the coir villages should not be missed. It has many tourist attraction to explore the beauty like as Chinese fishing net, St. Francis church and Wellington island etc.

Munnar
It is a small hill station set as well with the Kannan Devan Hills. Munnar, one of the most popular hill station of India, is adorned with lush green surroundings, lakes, reservoirs, forests, and tea estates. It is located on the western ghat and 1600 m above from the sea level. It has also the highest peak in the south India, Anamudi, which towers over 2695m. Munnar has the many tourist places to be explored as the Devikulam, Nyayamakad, Rajamala and Eravikulam National park. It has became the adventure-seeking traveler, who have the interested in paragliding. It has some of the highest tea estates in the world.

Kumarakom
Kumarakom, a picturesque clean village, reflects the true natural beauty of Kerala. It is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The Bird Sanctuary of the Kumarakom, spread across 14 acres, is a fantastic haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist's paradise. Boat races, houseboat cruise, canoeing and fishing are the various attractions that make it a special place to explore. It is the land of unique characteristics, lush paddy fields and highland with a hundred percent literacy.

Kottayam
Kottayam is one of the magical backwater sight that attracts the tourists every year. It is a composition of the words Kotta as meaning fort and Akkam as meaning inside. It is the mountainous region with scenic landscapes, backwaters, bird sanctuaries, temples and churches which make it a place of tourist attraction. Kottayam is lying below the sea level, and it is popularly known as the land of lakes and latex and some of its nearby places are also a treat to the eyes.
