Bandhavgarh National Park is situated in the
district of Sahdol in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
This forest is among the Vindhya hill and came into
existence in 1968. Bandhavgarh National Park is
famous for white tigers of Rewa and the white Tiger
called Mohan, who supposedly fathered several
offspring found in zoos the world over. The tigers
and leopards at Bandhavgarh fascinating various
adventure seekers and wildlife freaks. It is the
home of white Tiger and Bandhavgarh National Park is
one of the most important wildlife preserves in
India. It is the amalgamation of the deciduous, sal
trees, grasslands, meadows and the stretches of
bamboo that gives a glorious look to Bandhavgarh
National Park and it is the home for the 22 species
of mammals and another 250 odd species of birds.
One can explore and have a watch the black-faced
langur, jungle cats, chinkara, black buck, munjtac
and the chital. The most popular animals found in
the park are Indian bison, sambar, barking deer and
it can be seen in the open areas of Bandhavgarh. You
can find the cobra, krait, viper, rat snake, python,
turtle and a large number of lizard varieties,
including varanus if you are a reptile lovers.

The park was reserved in the olden age for the royal family of Rewa where
once Maharajah Venkat Raman Singh made his illustrious future out of hunting 111
tigers. It was declared a national park in 1968. The beauties of landscape and
the glory of the park is a unique mixture of steep and rocky hills, with flat
tops and level grasslands in the valleys. The vegetation found within the Park
is moist deciduous forest with fine Sal trees and stretches of bamboo.
One can explore other beauties in the Bandhavgarh National Park. There are
Bandhavgarh fort that tells the ruins, believed 2000 years old. There area large
number of caves to the pre-historic period Brahmi inscriptions in the fort.
Another beauty that can be explored is the Baghela Museum that has the unique
collection of the Maharajas of Rewa as the stuffed body of Mohan and the first
tiger found in the park can be watched here. Here is also a unique collection of
military weapons and other hunting usual. The timing of the museum is 10 AM to 3
Pm and 5 PM to 8 Pm. Apart from all these things, Bandhavgarh is popular for
archaeological remains of the Kalchuri period that have been found here.
Bandhavgarh National park is one of the most popular visitors attraction in
India. One can visit to Bandhavgarh park two times in each day for 3-hour Jeep
safaris, once at dawn, and again in late afternoon. There are these perfect
timings to see the activities of the animals. Mostly used vehicles for exploring
the park are open 4WD Gypsys, which provide the exhilaration of being one with
the forests and wildlife. You have to drive slowly on the dirt tracks getting
around and seeing the animals without alarming them. Watching one, two and
possibly more tigers on these drives, is an unforgettable moment by so many
satiated visitors from all over the world.
